The System of Care process is very similar to our Puberty Rite Ceremony: when a young lady from our tribe is partaking in her ceremony, the young lady's Family, Friends, Relatives, and Support Groups will lend-a-hand and help the young lady with her ceremony; it could be helping with fire wood, cooking, maintenance, gifts, etc. The philosophy is the more enthusiastic, hard working individuals that "chip-in", the greater the success of the ceremony, and it is even said that the hard work and enthusiasm of the workers will "rub-off" on the young lady! That wisdom is used today and fortunately, SYSTEM OF CARE adopted this great teaching, and favorably our own Mescalero Apache Tribe has given its backing and support.
We at MSOC believe in this philosophy! And it is our pleasure and a Blessing to be working with a program that is closely tied to our traditions. With that said, if a youth age 5 to 21 and is a member of the Mescalero Apache Tribe, and needs to address their physical, cognitive, mental, emotional, social, and even educational needs; our program is here to help! As mentioned above, the Systems of Care strives to create a circle of support around the youth, from various friends, family, and relatives, who will be fundamental to helping the youth successfully complete their growing stage.
THE MORE FAMILY, FRIENDS, RELATIVES, AND SUPPORT GROUP’S THAT "LEND-A-HAND" AND HELP THE YOUTH GROW,
THE HIGHER THE SUCCESS THE YOUTH WILL HAVE IN LIFE.
In the same way that the family, friends & community come together to for the puberty ceremony ~ System of Care will coordinate efforts surrounding the youth to promote a healthy life.
The lives of the Mescalero children & youth will be; long and healthy, spiritually strong, emotionally balanced, intellectually powerful and resilient. Mescalero Apache children and youth will be proud of their apache identity and will demonstrate respect for themselves, their families, other individuals, Apache culture and Apache language.
